Knysna - the heart of South Africa's Garden Route

This area has much more to offer than just the sights, so if you're planning a trip to Knysna deserves a roadmap.

Knysna is suitable for the needs of all. Take a walk in the woods and you'll see clear streams, lush ferns and huge indigenous trees. You can relax on a beach, floating in the air or even add to your art collection. And if it seems a bit 'wider environment includes the villages of Sedgefield, Brenton, BuffaloBay Rheenendal and Noetzie. Your time in Knysna, certainly make your next trip in advance, simply because there is much to see.

Sedgefield is a lover of nature and the dream of one of the most picturesque places on the southern coast of Africa. All just a few kilometers from the lake you fynbos covered dunes to the Indian Ocean. There is plenty of accommodation for all budgets.

The two Saturday markets offer a more relaxing pastime, so dropping one of the great variety of shops and restaurants.

Brenton-on-Sea with its pristine beaches, overlooking the Indian Ocean and hugging the slope that leads from KnysnaWestern Cape. This is the only place on earth where you can see the Brenton Blue butterfly.

If you want to go for a tandem flight, there is a popular site for paragliding on Brenton Beach. Quad bikers are provided on the western ridge of the head, or you can go for a walk on the beach or go fishing. Brenton-on-lake, the lagoon side, it has moorings for boats and kayaks.

There are several restaurants in the area Brenton and Belvidere.

VisitDistrict Rheenendal country if you're in the mood for shopping. It 'just west of Knysna. Hike along the Rheenendal find painters, carpenters, potters, serigraphs, nurseries, bowl turners, tea gardens and restaurants.

There are many historic trails in the area while walking after dinner, like the old gold mine in Milkwood. Go for a tour, visiting the museum and a party in the tea garden.

Buffalo Bay, a popularfamily holiday, situated midway between Sedgefield and Knysna. The beach is perfect for the beach fishing and whale and dolphin and is safe for swimming and surfing. The more adventurous can always exciting to be riding a horse through the surf.

Noetzie, a sheltered bay to the east of the Knysna Lagoon, the boundaries of the Sinclair Nature Reserve. Paddle the river to look for eagles or swim or fish in the mouth. Delfiniotters and many bird species in abundance in the area. Noetzie has a number of castles, with towers and battlements, which are private houses or pensions.
