Dolphins are one of the most amazing creatures of nature. They are known for their intelligence, their desire to play, and altruism. Unfortunately, many species of dolphins are threatened or endangered. As human beings we must do more to care for these precious animals to be taken to ensure their survival. There is much we can learn from them, and much we do not understand these creatures. Contemporary threats include destruction of endangered dolphins in their naturalhabitat, fish and dolphins accidentally lead the hunt.
While commercial whaling is banned and heavily regulated by many parts of the world, there are countries that are not in complete agreement. Recently, Japan is under control for the preservation of an area to capture dolphins for their meat. The movie "The Cove" was screened last year, which brought the matter to the attention of much of the western world, namely riding hunting of dolphins in Taiji, Japan. However, there is running dolphin hunting since ancient times. Taiji is an important issue because in recent years have been increasing production of meat from whales and dolphins.
hunting, riding and hunting whales dolphins are just one of many threats. species like the Ganges river dolphin and Yangtze river dolphin is functionally extinct or are endangered. In many cases, people are to blame, because the rivers have been damaged by pollution andDolphins> are killed by fishing or boating. Also, dolphins are often victims of tuna fishermen, although old techniques for catching tuna would have killed the victim to kill a much greater number of dolphins that using current methods. However, the albacore is still the only "dolphin-safe tuna as a type of fishing techniques used to catch tuna are very different from other species of tuna.
Another threat isrecently, the emerging Western trade with the Japanese whalers in Taiji and other areas known practice dolphin drive hunt. Traders in search of affordable meat are used as food, or even as a substitute for tuna need to look beyond consider dolphin meat. One site claims to trade with the Japanese to buy dolphin meat to be used as a substitute for tuna with American school children. According to the site, "... the dolphins have been killed and shipped to America schools as a superior alternative to tuna. "
Any rational person should be outraged by this blatant disregard for the sanctity of intelligent life. We can not allow this kind of abuse and exploitation of animals to continue. This strange creatures should be protected at all costs. I ask people to do some research in question and resist the Japanese. They must be held accountable like the rest of the world for cruelty to animals and threatened.Dolphins> are intelligent creatures, not unlike humans. In the United States or Europe, would not allow a lab rat or a chimpanzee to undergo this barbaric process, let alone be very intelligent. Why should Japan be allowed to participate in such practices?
