Every year between December and May, volunteers from the Los Angeles section of The American Cetacean Society gather daily at the Point Vicente Interpretive Center Palos Verdes Peninsula to participate in a census of whales through the Catalina Channel. Since this is one of our most popular trails in all of LA we often stop to say hello to the participants, ask them questions and analyze the data, which will be presented. We do not know how many whalesappeared or should have known, appeared, but it's always interesting to note that only a few miles off the coast are one of the largest metropolises in the world, swim with the whales, almost unnoticed, on their annual migration.
